James Moffat

James Moffat is a dedicated community leader, education advocate, and nonprofit professional committed to building equitable opportunities in California and beyond.

As a Community Organizer at PRM, James assists with special outreach projects. He has a strong background in community engagement as well as educational leadership and workforce development, shaped by his work mentoring low-income and first-generation students. James is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education in Organizational Innovation (EdD) at National University. Currently serving as Operations Director at MAAC Project (Metropolitan Area Advisory Committee on Anti-Poverty of San Diego County), James oversees school compliance, labor relations, budget management, and student support initiatives.

In his personal life, James serves in many civic leadership roles. He is an active voice in local education through his governance role on the Chula Vista Elementary School District’s Advisory Council. James also serves as Chair of the Board of Library Trustees for the City of Chula Vista. A graduate of the SDLA Institute, James now sits on the San Diego Leadership Alliance (SDLA) Board, where he brings a passion for policy, coalition-building, and grassroots organizing to support and develop the next generation of leaders.

During his downtime, James loves to play basketball, watch scary movies, and go on hikes with his dog, Mac.
